Striving to Show Unconditional LOVE to ALL.... AN ACTION not a WORD

It has been some time since I have written. I have been pondering  on whether or not to write about what has been on my heart these last few months or not. SO, I have decided to try to put my feelings into words. I pray this encourages rather than offends.
Since walking these last 11 months or so, we having been doing a walk in Love. This has been eye opening and enlightening to the real world we live in, not the fake one seen or depicted on TV or Face book. We have shared with and broke bread with every religion and every walk of life. It has opened my eyes to what Christ might have experienced, in the way that He walked amongst and ate with the poor and weak and alternative lifestyles. I do not think that Christ first made or passed judgement before ever speaking to someone or showing Love to someone. I read the opposite in His word. We are trying to show True Love to ALL, not see someone and form our opinion or judge them without talking to them, regardless of life choice or religion or the way they look. I do not want to be seen as a better person than anyone else at first glance. I want to be equal with the lost, hurting, poor, homeless, etc... I want to love like Christ did for me and for you.
We have had people who do not even know Christ and are living a completely different life choice in this world come up to us with tears in their eyes and say," Thank  you for talking to us and not being scared of us and showing us Love." This was life changing for us, for me.... this is why we are walking. We have also had multiple religions encouraged by our trek and our love we have shown to them, now following us on our page. We are called to show Love one to another ...not hate, not fear, not passing judgement before talking to one another but how quickly do we do this in the world today? How are we to Love our neighbor, one another, our enemies if we are always quick to pass judgement before a smile or kind word? I feel we have paid way to much attention to what the TV tells us about people in the world than going out and meeting them for ourselves. We have become a society of sheep that seem to be follow the now trend  of HATE , other than, seeing for ourselves and loving one another instead of hating one another.
I feel that we are required to be out showing true Love above and beyond anything else. How else will we ever be a witness to others, if we first form an opinion of them before speaking to them? I remember in God's word where He drew a line in the sand and said he who is without sin in their life throw the first stone at Mary Magdeline. I think we have become a people of stone throwers instead of neck huggers and lovers. I feel that we must truly have love for one another before there can ever be peace. We have had our lives changed by staying under the same roof as the homeless, drifters, poor, rich, gay, Christians, Muslims, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist, hippy, and you name it and we have seen it all and ate with them and loved them and shared ourselves with them and hope we have touched their lives in some way. I truly believe this is what Christ died for, someone like ME, a sinner like everyone we have met and like YOU!
I pray this has inspired you not offended you in some way. I believe that LOVE is and action we do and NOT just a little word used in the wrong way. SO, I encourage you to get out and do something and show someone TRUE LOVE today and maybe change a life today. You may even find out that your life is the one that will be changed.

I LOVE you ALL TRULY,

Jennifer

Walking on Sinking Sand....

Greetings in Jesus name,

It has been some time since I have written anything. We have been out in the wilderness. This week while walking in Nevada on a very sanding road, I was praying and this is what came to me. We were walking on sinking sand! I began to sing the hymn, On Christ the solid Rock I stand, ALL other ground is Sinking Sand. As I was walking my feet were not steady, they were sinking ankle deep in the very hot desert sand. I began to realize as I was singing and pray that this is our life and choice. If we take our focus and eyes off Jesus and His words and ways, we become unsteady and lose our focus and we begin to sink. As I was struggling and stumbling trying to not sink in the sand, my mental focus became weak and all I could do was try to keep on the right path, but I couldn't. This is how I saw my walk with Christ, if we stay filled with His desires and His ways and words and serve Him and walk in His path on the narrow road we may stumble some but we will not sink. I was weaving and wobbling on the sinking sand, singing and praying to God for help. I was stumbling along looking for a Easier path, other  than just walking straight and not worrying about what was under my feet or if I was sinking or not...trying to find my own way. It brought the scripture to life on building your house on a rock, not on the sand, also narrow is the way and few there find it. I realized, I was all over the sinking sand road and stumbling and tripping and was losing physical and mental focus but with Jesus as my guide I can do anything and everything if I stay focused on Him alone then my feet will be stable and on the right path. I hope this makes since to everyone. We have a lot of time to spend in God's word and  time to sing and meditate while on our walk for Him.I encourage you all to try to not let life's troubles lead you down the road of sinking sand, but  that you stay focused on and filled with His ways and His word to lead you down the narrow road to everlasting. I Love You ALL!!!

I encourage you to find this hymn and sing it to the Lord! My hope is built on nothing less.....

We Are The Body? Or Are You?

Greetings to All of You in Jesus' Mighty Name,

Hello Friends, Family and Fellow Hikers,

I have been wanting to write for some time now but have been very busy and have not had good wifi service. I would like to discuss being the body of Christ. We have been walking across America this last year and have been in contact with many different beliefs. We have been able to share in depth the Love of Christ to Muslims, Buddhist,Hindu, Christian, Unbelievers  and  much more. Our family believes we are to live what we believe and to show it in our daily lives and to be a light for Jesus daily in ALL that we do. Our whole body should be a living testimony of what we believe and through this others should see it shining bright in us and through us. All across America people have said they have noticed our smiling faces and seen the light of Jesus on our faces and it has been a great witness to all we have met thus far. Yet, there have been others whom it has saddened me that some whom profess with their mouth that they to are Christians and have had issues with our way of living for Christ.
God's word says we are to be the body of Christ! One Body, One Baptism, One Faith and of One Accord; yet we are ALL divided by doctrines. This too is very sad to me and I am sure this breaks the heart of God as well. We are walking to show the Love of Christ to ALL we meet. This includes the homeless, the train hoppers, the Muslims, the Hindus, the Christians, the Opposite lifestyle choices and so on. We have been asked two questions on our walk from ALL of these people. What are you? Why are you doing this? Hugging me? Talking to me? We have gone out of our way to talk to people who have no home and others would not even be caught talking to them. We are to be the Body of Christ, His hands and Feet. We are to let our light so shine that ALL may come to know our Father which is in Heaven. Yet, How are we to do this if we ourselves whom profess to be Christians will not even talk to any of these people listed above? It seems to me that we are to worried about what the world thinks of us , rather than what God thinks of us. What would our preacher think or our best friend or parent or our boss, think if we were seen hugging the neck of a smelly homeless stranger? I may lose my job our stature in Church! Yet, We are called to be the Body of Christ!
We have homeless people now who are following our blog and face book whom now get our scriptures daily and other lifestyles, who get the word of God daily through our blogs. They are being fed God's Love and His word because we hugged a neck, we did not know or we went out of our way to talk to them about Jesus. Did you know that most of these people did not know that Christianity is a religion of Love? Do you know this? Where was Jesus? Was Jesus sitting daily with the elite at their tables and socializing only with the select groups? I do not think so! He was with the homeless, the lepers, the blind, the broken hearted, the lost, the poor and so on and so on. He actually spoke anger towards the elite and rich and said they have their reward now! Yet, we have some how come to the thought that we are better than these people because we have salvation and we may just say a prayer for the hungry, the smelly homeless and not dare talk to a Muslim because they are the enemy! Yet, Jesus said ," We are to Love our enemies"!
We are the Body of Christ, We are to be His Hands and Feet, We are to Love God, We are to Love our Neighbor, We are to Love one another, We are to Love Our Enemies and there is NO exceptions in this! So, We are to Love everyone!   There is No one not mentioned, we are to Love!
If we are the body of Christ then why our there so many divisions in Christianity? Why are churches dividing daily? Why are we fighting? It is because as all of these people that we have met have asked us, why are you loving me? We asked them do you go to church and where? They ALL have said the same thing.....No, I tried but they did not want me there! They did not accept me or love me or welcome me! This is not being the body of Christ! This is thinking we are better than they are and we are ALL sinners. Yet, they need a Savior, just like you and I did!
So, I encourage you to step out on God's  Word and extend His Love and start living as you are the Body of Christ and Be His Hands and His Feet and spread His Love and be a Bright Light for the hurting today. Souls are what matter in life not things, not stature and not class. We should be living for Christ and doing His work for the Kingdom, NOT for our own gain in this world but for saving souls, that is why we are here. Do something unusual today and say hello to a stranger and ask if they know Jesus today. Thank you and I Love each one of you! Become the Body of Christ, Be His Hands and Feet today and He will bless you for it!

Romans 12: 9-13 Behaving like a Christian....

Hello Friends, Family and Fellow Hikers,

Greetings of CHRISTian Love to you all in the blessed name of our Savior and Friend JESUS CHRIST.

I have been pondering on this topic since yesterday. We had a phone interview; conference call,  at Camp  Comeca concerning becoming the Camps New Director and in this interview they asked us several questions. One of these questions sums up our family in a nut shell, HOSPITALITY. I; myself said,  "I am Hospitality"! For all of you that know us or have met us should know that we love hospitality . We answered that it is required for someone as a christian to be hospitable. As a christian it says in Romans, how to be a christian and it goes on to say be,  fervent in spirit and given to hospitality.
I feel that if you are a believer of God's word than hospitality should just become second nature. We have been walking across America for 8 months and we have never really met a stranger. I mean, we would meet people we have never met before, but treated them as though they were long time friends or part of our family. I feel that if you are a christian than you are family and you are a friend already. In this passage of the bible it says let LOVE be.... I hope that we show everyone CHRIST LOVE when we meet them or you. I try to treat others the way I want to be treated. We try to live by the golden rule in our family.
We were ask what is hospitality to us? I felt as though if each one of them in the meeting could have walked one day with us or would be willing to go to town with us just one time, then they would understand us for who we are. We hold fast to God's word and we apply it to everything we do  in our lives. We strive hard to hold each of ourselves accountable to God's words and we expect the same from others. I mean, we wear coverings and we do stick out and this in itself is truly an accountability thing for us but not why we do it. We can not be yelling or acting in a negative way in a store or any where. We are called to be a city on a hill, a light unto the world and yet, this is why we are so accountable for our actions daily. We take that to heart and try to be a light for all to see, Jesus in us.  People are waiting to see you make a mistake so they can say; look they do it and they are Christians, so I can too. Our lives changed when we went back to the bible and truly read it for what it is saying and asking of us to do and set our thoughts aside. Our family became stronger in faith and stronger in HIS word. We began treating others better than ourselves, and each other higher than ourselves. This became such a blessing to us and others we met. We began praying together and with others we just met and so on.
Being a Christian is everything to us. It is what makes us,  leads us and guides us daily. Christ died so we could be free. HE did this so we would believe and we would sow seeds for others to know Him and spread LOVE and with that comes Hospitality. All hospitality is is serving others, putting their needs before your own, caring about them and showing others LOVE, Jesus' Love. I wish just one day you would come walk with us for an afternoon or go into town with us to see how and who we are. I pray you will read this passage and take it and apply it to your life and live it  and LOVE more.

May the LORD Shine HIS LOVE upon you today and forever!
We LOVE You ALL!

In CHRISTian Love,

GentleFir ...Jennifer

Go and extend hospitality today! Tell someone you LOVE them and that Jesus does TOO!

LOVE....... WORD or ACTION

Greetings Friends, Family and Fellow Hikers,

I have been wanting to write for sometime now but have not found the time to sit and put all of my thoughts into words until now. Happy New Year to ALL and I pray that this year will be one of blessings and service for our Lord.
We have just finished a Holiday camp for children who were not going to be getting much for this Holiday season. We had 19 children whom touched my life in ways that were life impacting and heart breaking.  These children were sad when they came to camp, not because they were at camp but because of their life situations. I witnessed these little ones learning how to share with others they may have just met and how to LOVE. Why can we not do this as adults? It seems like we as adults are always worried about stuff; our stuff, not sharing with others as we should, not LOVING others as we should. These little children came to camp with the same kind of mannerisms as us adults; but of course, because they learned from adults how to act. Which brings me to my post title.......

LOVE......WORD or ACTION???? What is it to you? Are you showing Love as an action in your family and to others you meet?? OR are you showing LOVE to your family and to those you just meet as just a word that you say???? What do you want your children to do with LOVE?????

God places a lot of emphasis on this subject in HIS WORD. WE are walking for this word, LOVE! To many times we as a people get to busy in our own lives as individuals to really stop to see if we are showing LOVE as an ACTION or just as a WORD. Take a few minutes to stop and think about what you may be doing with the word LOVE in your life. I know that I myself am guilty; of sometimes not taking the time to really show someone LOVE. God commands us to LOVE one another, to LOVE our neighbors, to LOVE our enemies, to LOVE our brethren and the GREATEST of these is that you LOVE....! That must mean that LOVE is very important to GOD, so it should be very important to us as believers. So, do we really show LOVE as an action like we are commanded to do or do we just use it as a word in our daily vocabulary?? We as a people seem to use LOVE in the wrong way more often than not. We are quick to say I LOVE my dog, cat, car, truck......I am also guilty of this and it is wrong.  This is not a place to use the word LOVE.
LOVE.....Is meant to be an ACTION!  We are to show LOVE not to just say it. I witnessed little children this week at Holiday camp learning to LOVE when they did not know how to LOVE or how to express it. I witnessed children sharing and giving up gifts that they themselves really wanted top keep to make someone else happy. This was the true meaning of LOVE. I watched as one child would get hurt and another would come to comfort them, or to offer a hug or a kind word. We as adults should stop to show someone less fortunate than ourselves this kind of LOVE also. This is the kind of LOVE GOD is commanding of us as believers, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. Maybe if we ALL began to say, I unconditionally LOVE you, or I unconditionally LOVE my pet, we would see that it is a serious word and not to be just said without meaning.
Through our walk across America, I have heard so many people from all walks of life and all kinds of classes of people say I am not excepted in church or no one cares if I am in church or not... This is truly saddening! We have heard WHY are you talking to me or WHY are you praying with me or hugging me???? This is what we as believers are called to do, to show LOVE to ALL, young and small, rich and poor, homeless and in mansions, sick and desolate and much more. Jesus himself was among the wretched, lowly and sinners and frowned upon the elite. We need to take that message to heart and to put into practice UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
The little children this week learned that LOVE is an ACTION not just a WORD thrown around. They showed LOVE back once they learned that we ALL at Camp Comeca did LOVE them unconditionally. We saw broken children beginning to laugh and to share and to care for one another in just a few short days because we all showed them that LOVE is an ACTION. If these little children can change in just a few short days think of what we can ALL do in the world if we ALL took LOVE out into the world as an ACTION and not as a small WORD we throw around in our daily vocabulary. So lets learn from the little children and and go out and LOVE as we are commanded to do. What a better place we could have if we truly just LOVED one another as an ACTION!

Is LOVE a WORD or ACTION to you???

WE LOVE you ALL!

IN CHRISTian LOVE,

Jennifer GentleFir

Walking in the Footsteps of the Past

Hello Friends, family and Fellow Hikers,

It has been some time since I have written anything on my blog, Greetings of Love to you ALL.

My family and I have been walking along the Pony Express,The Oregon Trail, and The California Trail lately as we have been traveling across Nebraska. I have been enjoying the diversity of this state. We have walked through large metro cities, small town villages, along farming fields and also through the vast prairies and with each one comes a new since of life.
We recently toured a pioneer village of things from yesteryear and also toured Fort Kearney. While walking along the Oregon Trail and all of its vast prairies, one can not stop but to think of life back then.We have seen old windmills, old farms and homesteads where life once was.
We are just a family of three walking this for the Lord and these people were walking for their new lives. We have thorns and splinters to think of and camping spots, yet they had Indians, diseases, weather of all kinds, dust bowls and much more.I thank God that we have one another and we can walk and sing and stop and sit on a rubber mat to escape the thorns somewhat and the elements. The women back then walked miles in all the extremes of the elements and with small children or nursing babies. They had all sorts of life persecutions and we have none of this really. We walk for miles sometimes and only see large expensive harvesters, cattle, grain trucks flying up and down the roads to fast. They had Indian attacks, fires, measles, mumps, flu, not enough food and much more.We can walk and find a place to pitch our nice tent in safety or someone may invite us in for the night or we can get a hotel if one is around; wow, how blessed we are today. Yes, we may go without water for some time but they went without for days sometimes. Yes, we are blessed.
Walking in the footsteps of the past has made me realize how truly blessed we are. Today people are busy,  busy chasing the dollar and forget about the ones before us who helped make this a civilized place to live and work. We should all stop and take time to remember those who came before us. We should take our children and grandchildren to museums and historicals sights and teach them life, true life. I think of those who walked the Oregon Trail and that led me to think of the Apostles way before them that walked many miles to better peoples lives with the Truth and Love. I just hope that our walk will be one that is full of truth and love for all we have met and all that we will meet.
So, I encourage you all to get outside and go visit one of many history sites we have here in the states or read a true account of history to someone today. You could just go walking in the footsteps of the past.

Thank you and Lord Bless You,
I Love You ALL,
GentleFir

Recycled Christian....

Hello Friends, Family and Fellow Hikers,

I have been pondering this post for several years off and on. I think I am ready now to try to put it on paper. Please know this is my opinion and my thoughts as one of Backpacking Believers, not from us but from myself.

We live in a society of recycling, repurposing, greener lives, renewal usage and I see this as a Christians daily walk with God, as well. I try to live a greener life for Creation and for a healthier lifestyle. When we were lost people, before becoming a Christian we were unuseable, not molded, scraps here and there. When we became Christians we began to be molded into something new, something useable, repuposed. Let me explain, if I can.
Recycled.....to take something and to melt it into a new useable item, transform garbage into new life that is better. Before we have Christ living in our life we are not able to be a witness for Christ. We are filthy, useable stuff. When we become recycled through Christ, He molds us into a new being. We talk different , we change, we become new, we are given a new life and a new purpose. We can use our old life as a stepping stone for our new life though. We are told not to look back at our old self but we are freed from that, but we can use our past mistakes as reminders to help others in their walk. Repurposed....Use our past before Christ as a reminder to not do those things anymore. We can repurpose our life to use those things for new. It is still what you once were but now you are a new person in Christ, molded out of the miry clay into a new life. Recycled and Repurposed!!
I look at my past life and it saddeneds me, but I know what God has taken me from and changed me to be used of Him. I can use my past mistakes to help others hurting and can show them the new life in Christ. I can use my old life, junk as a stepping block now not a stumbling block. I have been Recycled by Christ, Repurposed, now I am useable for His Glory. We can look at things that were once scap metal junk, or trash bags, or plastic or glass and now they have been recycled into beautiful things, new things they have a new life and new purpose. We should become recycled, repurposed Christians not dwelling on our past but using it as a way to become a witness for God and to help others to see what a blessing it is to be used of God. You may have come from a terrible past but I know what God can do in your life if you allow him to Recycle and Repurpose your life. HE can change you into a new beautiful piece of Life, useable in unimaginable ways. Please consider being Recycled if you haven't been already.

I Love being a Recycled Christian !

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

God Bless You and I Love You ALL
